Well I have Windows 7 as my choice of OS. Many people support Linux but I guess it isn't user friendly due to which many people are unaware of how to use it.
If you wish to run Windows 7 on your PsiXpda at an additional cost we will supply.

I have a netbook running Linux, its great. But some apps I run just don’t with Linux and that reality. So Its XP till Win7 has all the drivers and SP2 is out, as I’ve been here with MS over the past 30 years. I see that SP1 was rushed out, so I'll stay away for now, as Redmond don’t pay me to fix their problems!
I needed this to work first time every time in Bermuda, Chicago and Kentucky -- and it did everything it says on the tin.
I also bought a small wireless folding key-board and a wireless mouse which now gives me PC-type access when I'm on the road. Yet the whole kit takes less space than my washbag.
Good stuff.
So you finally did it, congratulations.
I'll have to try and get hold of one to try out, great to see Psion designs are still inspiring people.
Seems a long time ago we were all at the Greenford repair centre.
if you want to get in touch you can contact me via http://shaun.ph

Please how do I get the pxiXpda in Nigeria. Do you have an agent/store in Nigeria. I love the organiser and would want to have one. How do I also get email on the go on it in Nigeria
Sure the NXXX series from Nokia run on ARM chips and use Maemo but what are Nokia doing? They're joining with Intel and running Meego - a joint OS combining Maemo and Moblin. If Meego were to be offered on the PsiXpda, it would be in direct competition with Intels offerings. Is that a sensible marketing choice to go for? I'm not sure. As a Psion 3, 5 and Netbook owner, and Nokia 9300 and also N900, I would love a PsiXpda. Why not suggest Android instead on one?
I've been using Ubuntu for a year now...and I'm glad I changed it. Windows was so slow in comparison. Of course there're some compatibility issues but nowadays there's a wide range of products to use. Chris from hostales roma
I'll be most unlikely to switch from my almost daily use of my Psion 5mx whichever OS is available if I can't convert all my various files easily. I already have a MacBook and would consider a Linux OS but the current difficulty I have with moving files back and forth between Psion and Mac is not something I want to buy in to again. I also wonder if the keyboard on this pocket computer is as good as the keyboard on my Psion.....
I'm actually having Linux in most of our machines but not all employees know how to use this OS...I guess this may be the reason why most have Windows. rome b&b
Would it be possible to purchase the psixpda without any version of windows, and if so how much would it cost without the extra expense of a windows licence ?
Yes you can purchase PsiXpda without Windows XP Pro, please call our support team on +44 (0) 208 150 9988
If you won't install linux will you at least make the hardware available without the Microsoft tax ?
I won't purchase anything that fills the coffers of that company.
Linux is great for me as an engineer. Ubuntu on my EEE, Maemo on my phone, Gentoo at work on x86 and ARM. Each one different, tailored for the job at hand.
this unit is too large . ideally it should be a 3.7 screen
You say too lager but in comparison to what?
PsiXpda runs Windows XP Pro I have seen PsiXpda at the Gadget Show even running Windows 7 Ultimate.
PsiXpda is comparable to a Net-book, or Tablet PC, if you say PsiXpda is too large to be a phone then we agree PsiXpda is not a phone.
Phones are small, PsiXpda is the perfect communicator fittings between the mobile phone and you computer.
I have used psions for over 10 years. I am one of the few people I know who have used psions to communicate with windows (via psiwin) and continue to do so. I have only ever been able to convert psion files to windows files for word (to microsoft word) and sheet (to excel).
I have done this for these 2 programs only, up to windows xp (not vista - it has never worked for me). I wonder if anyone has had success converting the other standard psion series 5 files, either to windows xp, or even later versions of windows ?
Converting files from only 2 psion programs (word and sheet) is rudimentary to say the least. I would be great for windows to recognize the psion as a harddrive and simply import and convert all psion files. Has anyone done this ? This is a big question for psion users
I already have an Asus Eee running on Linux. Its big advantage is that its screens are designed to fit the size available. The psixpda does not run a modified Windows, able to adjust sizing to the screen.
Has anyone managed to improve the Windows setup?
Bob
I will repeat I am a Psion man, I love everything Psion, however we were spending most of our resources supporting a decreasing market we just could not continue.
I have deleted all Psion 3, 3a, 3c, 3mx, 5 & 5mx tooling, so please take care of you Psion what ever the model.
Having worked on more Psion than any other I agree, the Psion Series 7 is tough nut to crack.
The PCB and the display is cushioned by space so dropping the unit will have very little impact,
Let me a little extra and say that PsiXpda is the Ferrari of the UMPC world, handle with care and
it will handle like a dream.
Chris, it's a valid viewpoint, and one we are aware of that is out there, but what we can;t do, as a very small company, is rush out a Linux distro without doing all we can to make it easy on new Linux users.
From a practical point of view, Maemo and the Nxxx series from Nokia all run ARM chips, and our current machine is based around the Intel Atom range, so straight out the box it would be a huge headache to cross compile, and of course you would loose binary compatibility.

I was wondering whether the PsiXpda is able to use a stylus for taking signatures?
There is a Stylus with the PsiXpda

I am psion as well as a Psi)(pda man I aim to improve the brand.
Our customer requested the Psion form factor
Not a Blackberry man, it that one of those five-a-day as is recommended by your health department?
